Happy News!
I'm happy (and a little sad) to report that Stonewall is now in the loving care of Washington Area Humane Society. They felt he was ready to be vetted and put up for adoption. I miss the little guy but I know he has a better chance of getting adopted there than with me.

Starting to Trust
Lots of progress! Stonewall is no longer hiding when I come in to visit with him. He comes right over for loves (and food!)
He loves to put his head in my lap and let me rub his belly. He's becoming very trusting and seems more than ready to be a wonderful pet.
I'm making a vet appointment for next week so he'll be up-to-date on all shots. Also, his cuts are healing great and he's had no litterbox issues.
More pictures coming soon!

Progress!
Stonewall started playing a little tonight! I also did a quick check and his cuts are healing great. The next step will be a more thorough vet check and groom. He really needs it...
Also, he is just so good with my son who is constantly in motion, usually quickly and right towards him. He just backs away quickly, never showing any aggression.
If I had to put it out there, I'd say he needs to go to a home with kids who are old enough to understand that they need to be calm with him. Maybe 6+?

Contacting me

Just needs some love.
Tonight I started Stonewall on OTC ear mite drops. You could tell they really bothered him and he ran from me when I put them in. But he showed no aggression. I fed him while I applied some treatment for the scratches that I've now realized are from him itching the fleas and ears. He didn't move, just kept eating. He's such a sweetie. He's still not playing at all but I haven't tried really hard. Next I'm going to try some catnip and maybe some cat grass...
Also, he followed Nate around the garage tonight, just checking out what he was doing.
You never know what you're going to get when you pick up a stray, but this guy is about as sweet as they come. If you're interested in learning more, please leave your email in the comments section.

A New Friend
Without going in to all of the details, I found this sweet kitty while on vacation. The resort where we stayed had little patience for a skinny cat visiting with their guests and after 2 days had called for someone to 'take care of' him.
The staff was nice enough to get me a cardboard box and packing tape and off we went. After a quick trip to the ER vet to make sure nothing was seriously wrong, he came home with me.
So here is Stonewall:

And here are the basics so far:
Age: About 1 year old
Gender: Currently unneutered male
Health: Scrapes, scratches, missing hair and very skinny. FLV negative. Treated with Frontline for fleas.
Temperement: Extremely friendly. Loves to be petted even with scratches and scabs. Nervous around my 2-year-old son (most cats are...) but still friendly with him. Hasn't played at all and doesn't seem to know what toys are for.
Lots more to follow but I wanted to start getting the word out since we absolutely cannot keep him! Four is more than enough for us! Stay tuned as I update this with Stonewall's recovery.
